Itinerary #1 – Felix’s Guide to PEI

Felix is an Islander through and through. He knows the hidden gems and has collected the best places and experiences to see and do for his guests at Salt Cottages. Here is what we think is recommended in his “An Islander’s Guide to PEI”:

  1. Oysters

A Guide to PEI, by Felix Clark, couldn’t start without oysters. To enjoy the ocean’s salty kisses, head to a local seafood market (if you are brave enough to shuck for yourself) or a restaurant (if you want a pearl-fect shuck) to savour the flavours of these delicious delicacies, harvested from the island’s pristine waters. We suggest hitting up the Malpeque Oyster Barn (the restaurant that inspired Shack Malpeque), Carr’s Oyster Bar, or the Landmark Oyster House. Best slurped naked, with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkling of horseradish, a dab of tabasco or cocktail sauce, or with a Mignonette

  1. Lighthouse Exploring

Explore a chapter of Maritime history with a visit (or two) to a PEI lighthouse, just like Lucy, Felix & Bridget did. Climb to the top (where applicable) for panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding landscape. Enjoy a romantic sunset picnic on the beach or dine at the nearby restaurant, soaking in the tranquil ambience of these historic landmarks. Lighthouses we love: Covehead Harbour Lighthouse, North Rustico Harbour Lighthouse, French River Lighthouse, Cape Tyron Lighthouse.

  1. Hike in PEI National Park

Pack a picnic and spend an afternoon exploring the natural beauty of the PEI National Park. Choose from a variety of scenic trails, ranging from easy walks along sandy shores to more challenging treks through dense forests and rolling dunes. Keep an eye out for wildlife and breathtaking vistas along the way.

  1. Canada Food Island Cookbook

To start your very own book collection…Take home a little bit of PEI with the Canada Food Island Cookbook. Discover mouthwatering recipes featuring the island’s fresh produce, seafood, and dairy products, and learn about the rich culinary traditions that have shaped PEI’s food culture.
