Fancy a visit to the beach? At most, you’re a 20-minute drive from sand dunes and sunshine (but often more like 10 minutes).
Want to take in a night of theatre? You’ll find incredible stages – big and small – in communities across the Island. They are especially plentiful in the Central Coastal region.
Craving PEI seafood? Of course you are. With fish markets in almost every seaside village, traditional lobster suppers in the Green Gables Shore region, and countless restaurants serving up lobster rolls, seafood chowders, and more, you’re never more than a short drive from enjoying some of the freshest and best seafood in the world.

It is worth noting that the easiest way to explore PEI is with a private vehicle. Public transit is limited outside of the capital city and while the Island is small it’s not tiny. In other words, if you arrive by foot or bicycle you’ll find it very challenging (and time-consuming!) to traverse the Island’s countryside.
Visitors without access to a private vehicle can still explore the Central Coastal region in comfort, thanks to a number of private tour operators that offer half-day and day tours of the area.
