01 Jun Best Beaches to Watch the Sunset on Central PEI
There is nothing better than slowing down after a long busy day to watch the sunset. And PEI has some of the best sunsets in the world! (At least that is our opinion). Take a look at the beaches that are on the top of our sunset watch list this summer!
Victoria by the Sea
Victoria by the Sea is popular for its unique shops, history, and charm, but it is also a beautiful place to watch a sunset. Make a date out of it and have dinner at The Landmark Oyster House or Lobster Barn and then head to the waterfront for the sunset.
Canoe Cove Beach
This park is on the south shore of Central PEI. The beach is unique because of the red cliffs and red sand in the cove. When the tide is high, the sand is covered. But on low tide, you can walk out onto the sand. Either way, this beach has a beautiful view of the sun sinking below the horizon.
North Rustico Beach
North Rustico Beach is another fantastic PEI beach. If you have never been swimming at sunset, this is the perfect place to give it a try. It is an unforgettable experience!
Oceanview Lookout
Oceanview lookout is well known for its sunset view. From here, you can see the sun sink towards the Cavendish Beach on your left and the red cliffs on your right.
Stanhope Beach
Stanhope beach is located in the PEI National Park. You can walk the long stretches of white sand at Stanhope Beach while watching the sun go down on the water.
Thunder Cove Beach
The Teacup Rock may be gone because of Hurricane Fiona, but this beach is still a stunner and home to some of PEI’s most gorgeous sunsets.
Skmaqn-Port-la-Joye-Fort Amherst
This National Park has a beautiful view of the Charlottetown Harbour and is a great place to enjoy a picnic during golden hour.
Chelton Beach
Watch the sunset over the Northumberland Strait at Chelton Beach. This beach also has a great view of the Confederation Bridge. Make sure to check the tides before visiting!
