Meet Katherine MacLaine, co-owner and operator of Frothy Coffee & Rustico Surf Club 

When asked about her favourite hidden gem, the answer is simple, but beautifully vivid: Rustico Bay in the evening. As the wind settles and the light softens over the water, herons stand along the shoreline, and the horizon melts into deep blue-grey as village lights begin to glow.

That same sense of place and intention carries through everything she does. Her business is rooted in the idea of living where you work; built as a natural extension of life in and around Rustico Bay, where she lives, explores, and surfs year-round.

What makes her businesses unique? It’s deeply personal. One space, one community, and a business shaped entirely by real life on the coast; authentic, and full of personality.

At the coffee shop, the love shows up in every cup, especially the signature iced matcha with house-made blueberry syrup and the fan-favourite the banana bread latte 

And when it comes to designing her clothing? Inspiration is everywhere; from shoreline walks to everyday conversations, always shaped by the natural beauty of the Island.
