08 Jun Patio Season Starts on PEI! Rural Restaurants with the Best Views
Rural PEI has a few patios that are hard to top. These spots showcase some of the best outdoor dining experiences with views that make you slow down and soak in every drop of summer. Here are some of our favourite places to dine in Central PEI.
Carr’s Oyster Bar: With a patio that overlooks the water in Stanley Bridge, Carr’s is a top contender for the best patio on the North Shore. This is a great restaurant to experience true PEI with its rural landscape and seafood options.
Lone Oak Brewing Co: Lone Oak Beer Garden in Avonlea Village is a great spot to enjoy a drink and relax on the large patio. The outdoor space has a covered pergola, propane heaters, and fire pit tables, making it a relaxing place to spend a summer evening. Their menu offers high-quality pub food that tastes delicious paired with their locally made drinks. Lone Oak also has restaurants in Charlottetown and Borden-Carleton.
Red Island Cider, Brackley Bar: One of the newest additions to PEI’s patio scene, Red Island Cider’s Brackley Bar offers a laid-back outdoor space with a stunning rooftop patio just minutes from Brackley Beach! Visitors can enjoy a variety of locally crafted ciders, pick up their favourites to take home, and grab a bite from Old Salt or Little Richard’s. While you’re there grab a coffee and browse at Oh Hey by the Sea or snack on fresh oysters from Brackley Bay Oyster Company, all in one convenient location.
FinFolk Food: Fin Folk Food overlooks Tracadie Bay on the North Shore of PEI. This beachside restaurant serves casual-style seafood meals such as fish tacos, lobster rolls, and deep-fried scallops. After dinner, visitors can walk from the restaurant right out onto the beach and go for a sunset stroll.
Island Stone Pub: Located in the historic Kensington train station, Island Stone Pub offers a unique outdoor dining experience. From the patio, you can see where the old train track on PEI used to be. Island Stone Pub serves local food and drink, and is right next to the Confederation Trail.
Sou’West Bar and Grill: Situated right on a wharf, Sou’West Bar and Grill provides a waterfront view overlooking the New London Bay. This view speaks for itself, and is the kind of spot where you’ll want to sit back and stay awhile.
Richards Fresh Seafood: Richard’s is a popular spot for beach lovers. It’s a fish shack on the Covehead Wharf. Grab some fish and chips or a lobster roll and enjoy your dinner on the patio or walk down to the beach and have a picnic by the water. Richards also has locations in Victoria-by-the-Sea and Brackley.
PEI Preserve Company: For a different outdoor dining experience, try PEI Preserve Company’s picnic in their Gardens of Hope. They offer picnic baskets to enjoy while taking in the gardens overlooking the Clyde River.
Chez Yvonne’s Restaurant: Chez Yvonne’s restaurant has been a cornerstone of Cavendish for over 35 years! It offers a land and sea menu with a patio perfect for enjoying a meal on a warm summer day.
Lobster Barn Pub and Eatery: Head to the Lobster Barn to enjoy seafood in this picturesque seaside village. The Lobster Barn is on the wharf in Victoria-by-the-Sea, offering the coastal, maritime experience whether you dine indoors or outdoors.
However you spend your summer days on the Island, PEI restaurant patios are worth carving out time for!
