🧵 Threads of Time: Arnold Smith’s Collection of Historic, Vintage & Reproduction Clothing

History isn’t just found in books—it’s stitched into every seam of the past. For over 35 years, Arnold Smith has been collecting, restoring, and recreating historic clothing, ensuring that the craftsmanship and styles of bygone eras continue to be appreciated. Now, his incredible collection is on display at the Eptek Arts & Culture Centre in Summerside from February 18 to March 28.

A Glimpse Into Fashion History

This exhibition showcases a diverse selection of garments that Arnold has meticulously restored or recreated, offering a unique look at fashion’s evolution through time. Known for his work with The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico and the Doucet House, Arnold has played a key role in keeping PEI’s heritage alive through historically accurate clothing and immersive storytelling.

Meet Arnold at the Opening Reception

History enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Opening Reception on Sunday, February 23, from 1–3 PM. This free event offers a chance to meet Arnold, hear the stories behind his collection, and gain insight into the art of historical fashion restoration.

Learn From a Master: Workshops in March

In addition to the exhibition, Arnold will be hosting a series of hands-on workshops every Sunday in March, where participants can learn about historic clothing restoration and craftsmanship. These sessions offer a rare opportunity to work alongside a dedicated historian and tailor, gaining practical skills and knowledge about the intricate world of historical fashion.
