Ok, this road trippin’ route may not be exactly straight through the heart, but rather through the centre with some fun twists and turns along the way! That’s right, we’re talking about taking a cross-land tour, from one shore to the other. Now here’s the brilliant thing – there are endless possibilities when you start exploring the interior of Central Coastal. And while you might think you need a destination before setting out, might we humbly suggest you let that thought float away.

Truly, the best way to explore Central Coastal is without a set destination or schedule. Simply hop in your vehicle and let your heart take the lead. Alright you may want to bring along a map *just in case*, but forget the GPS, it’s not going to point you towards our gorgeous heritage roads (made of red clay!) or tell you about the incredible pottery studio at the end of that tiny lane you spotted. So turn off the technology and get ready for adventures you’ll remember long after your Island vacation is over.
We promise you can’t get *too* lost on PEI and you’ll discover some of the Island’s most beloved gems along the way – from craft cideries and wineries to artisan studios, must-visit dairy bars, community theatres, cozy cafes, and more. And if you want to get out of the car and explore by foot or bike, you’ll find picturesque hiking and cycling trails throughout the region.
Looking for a little direction to get you started? You’ll find plenty to discover along Routes 13 and 7, while Route 2 is the most direct way to travel west to east (or vice versa) through the interior of Central Coastal. There are countless communities and villages worth exploring – some of the larger ones include Kensington, New Glasgow, Hunter River, New London, and Crapaud. Hikers will want to check out Bonshaw Provincial Park and Strathgartney Provincial Park, while the Confederation Trail is perfect for an easy walk or bike ride.
