One of the world’s best known literary landscapes is found at Green Gables Heritage Place! Once a farmstead owned by cousins of author L.M. Montgomery, the property is now part of L.M. Montgomery’s Cavendish National Historic Site along with the privately operated Site of L.M. Montgomery’s Cavendish Home.
Anne of Green Gables is the story of spunky redhaired orphan Anne Shirley. The story was written by Island author L.M. Montgomery in the early 20th century. Based in part on Montgomery’s own experiences in rural Prince Edward Island, the still popular novel follows Anne’s growing up after coming to live at “Green Gables”.
There’s lots to discover! Visit the Green Gables House, lovingly restored to match the world of the novel. Explore Green Gables Visitor Centre exhibits and learn about the fascinating life of L.M. Montgomery. Stroll through the Haunted Wood trail or the famous Lover’s Lane path. Engage in family programming and guided tours (available in summer).
