17 May This Summer Will Be Different: Lover’s Lane
Lucy fell in love ON Prince Edward Island and fell in love WITH Prince Edward Island. Now it’s your turn. From idyllic destinations to intimate experiences, this itinerary is crafted to reignite the spark of romance or to deepen your love for the cradle in the waves.
1. A Scenic Drive
Start your romantic getaway with a scenic drive along the picturesque coastline of Prince Edward Island (mustang not mandatory). Take in the breathtaking views of the rolling hills, red cliffs, and pristine beaches as you drive along the coastal roads. Some of our favourite villages and towns to explore include Victoria by the Sea, New Glasgow, and North Rustico.
2. Sandcastles & Sea Glass
Head to a secluded beach for some sandcastle building and sea glass hunting. Spend some quality time together strolling hand in hand along the shoreline, searching for unique treasures washed up by the sea. Lucy never had any luck but see if you fair better. The best beaches for sea glass hunting are Tea Hill Beach, Souris Beach, and West Point Beach.
3. Green Gables Heritage Place
Visit Green Gables Heritage Place, the inspiration behind Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved Anne of Green Gables novels. Explore the enchanting grounds, stroll through the Haunted Woods, and imagine yourselves in the world of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe (or Lucy Ashby & Felix Clark). Just remember to wear better shoes!
4. Blue Mussel Cafe
Drive to North Rustico Harbour to dine at the Blue Mussel Cafe, a culinary delight with rustic charm and panoramic views of the Harbour. We know Lucy would suggest you enjoy a beer and some lime mussels while Bridget would recommend the seafood bubbly bake. Whatever you choose be sure to end your evening with a scenic walk around the picturesque coastline.
5. MacAusland Wool Blankets
Make your way to MacAusland’s Woolen Mills, where you can shop for cozy blankets made from locally sourced wool. Choose the perfect blanket to cuddle up with as you explore the island together, sit fireside, or read a book on a rainy Island day.
6. Thunder Cove
Spend a day visiting Thunder Cove Beach. Located near the village of Darnley, this enchanting stretch of shoreline is renowned for its unique geological formations and striking red sandstone cliffs. Take a romantic walk along the shore, dip your toes in the crashing waves, and watch the sunset over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
