Three Rustico-area entrepreneurs have joined forces to offer you a truly unique Island experience!
Margaret McEachern (Knit Pickers) is an acclaimed knitter and weaver whose work has been commissioned by Walt Disney World and Parks Canada. Her design for the MacEachern tartan was selected in an international vote and is registered with the Scottish Registry of Tartans.
Gabriel and Deirdre Mercier are the co-owners of Ferme Isle Saint-Jean, a sheep farm where family histories of award-winning cheese-making and farming have united to create delectable cheese and yoghurt.
Mike and Jennifer Levy are the owners and classically trained French
chefs at The Yellow House. They partner with local growers who practice organic and sustainable farming and fishing to bring you the freshest and most mouth-watering taste sensations.
Your first stop will be at the Knit Pickers studio, where learning to knit has never been so easy! In just 2 hours, you will learn how to knit "in the round" and how to knit a cozy scarf. And - you will take home your own wooden knitting loom which has been hand-made in PEI.
Your next stop is at Ferme Isle Saint-Jean, where Knit Pickers sources its local wool. Happy, healthy sheep not only give you wonderful wool, but their milk makes the most delicious grilling cheese and yoghurt - tasty products that are not made anywhere else in the Maritimes! Try a sample and learn a little about sheep's milk cheese and yoghurt - uniquely PEI!
Loads of fun and fresh air are bound to whet your appetite for some delectable Island fare. Your next stop is a visit to The Yellow House where the talented chefs use only the freshest local ingredients. They have created "A Little Taste of Rustico" for you to enjoy - which features lobster with mixed greens, crispy fried mussels, Island smoked bacon, pickled fennel, cheese croutons, fresh Ferme Isle St Jean cheese crumble, strawberries and lemon zest - served with a side of salt cod and roasted garlic spread crostini and a beverage.
