Everything to Love about Central PEI – Canada Games Edition

Are you looking for things to do in Central Coastal PEI during the Canada Games 2023? Here is a breakdown of the best outdoor activities, restaurants, experiences, and shops.

Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place is open for private bookings from February 17th-March 6th, 2023! Open for drop-ins on Feb. 23 & Feb. 28. Visit Anne’s house and walk the Haunted Woods Trail and Lover’s Lane!

Island Hill Farm and Alexander & Darlene Farm Haven are two lovely petting farms that have the cutest animals. Island Hill Farm has some new baby goats that you can cuddle and even bottle-feed on the weekends!

Here are a few great local shops that you will only find on Prince Edward Island:

Our Island is known for its spectacular culinary experiences. The Willow Bakery & Cafe is such a picturesque spot to stop in for coffee or lunch (be sure to grab one of their raspberry swirl rolls). This cafe is located in the old Kensington train station and Island Stone Pub is right across the tracks. A couple of other fantastic places to eat in Central PEI include:

One event happening Feb 15 – March 5th is the first annual PEI Cocktail Showdown presented by Deep Roots Distillery. Vote on your favourite cocktail at participating restaurants and you could win a Canada’s Food Island Gift card! Pretty easy contest if you are 19+ I’d say.

The scenery on PEI is absolutely stunning in the winter. Go for a walk on the beach and see if you can spot any frozen seafoam along the shore, or grab your snowshoes or skis and head to one of the trails! There are so many great trail systems including Bonshaw & Strathgartney Provincial Park, Cavendish Grove Trail, and Glasgow Hills Trail, which is groomed for walking and fat biking all winter long. We also are home to the Confederation Bridge, the longest bridge over ice-covered water! Take some photos by the bridge and then grab a drink and a bite to eat at The Lone Oak in Borden-Carleton. While you are in the area you might want to stay the night at Tree Top Haven in Albany, walk on their trails, and soak in the hot tub. Other lovely places to spend a cosy night on the North Shore include Fairways Cottages, The Graham Inn, The Gables of PEI, Around the Sea Rotating House, and the Barachois Inn.
